Wireless communications systems with spatial diversity: a volumetric approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a new physical modelling approach for wireless systems with multiple antennas. The fundamental problem of modelling the communications channel if we are given an arbitrary spatial volume for transmitting, an arbitrary spatial volume for receiving, and a set of scattering bodies is studied. We show how to calculate the number of communication modes, both for direct (point-to-point) and for scattering environments. Our work explains the physical parameters which determine the channel model and its channel capacity.

Joint multipath-Doppler diversity in mobile wireless communications
We introduce a new approach for achieving diversity in spread-spectrum communications over fast-fading multipath channels. The RAKE receiver used in existing systems suffers from significant performance degradation due to the rapid channel variations encountered under fast fading. We show that the Doppler spread induced by temporal channel variations in fact provides another means for diversity...

The demand for wireless communication systems in industry has grown in recent years. Industrial wireless communications open up a number of new possibilities for highly flexible and efficient automation solutions. However, a good part of the industry refuses to deploy wireless solutions products due to the high reliability requirements in industrial communications that are not achieved by actua...

We introduce a novel physical layer scheme for single user Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) communications based on unsupervised deep learning using an autoencoder. This method extends prior work on the joint optimization of physical layer representation and encoding and decoding processes as a single end-to-end task by expanding transmitter and receivers to the multi-antenna case. We intr...

This paper investigates the applicability of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology to satellite communications at the Ku-band and above. After introducing the possible diversity sources to form a MIMO matrix channel in a satellite environment, particular emphasis is put on satellite diversity. Two specific different topics from the field of MIMO technology applications to satellite c...
